FileMaker Pro
Claris FileMaker Pro 2024 was updated to version 21.0.2 in August 2024. A full installer – which you can use to upgrade an existing installation of FileMaker Pro version 2023 or earlier – is available from your Electronic Software Download page or via your Claris Customer Console. If you have version 21.0.1 installed, you can also select Check for Updates from the Help menu of FileMaker Pro.
The full release notes can be found on the Claris website, but in summary, the update fixes the following bugs:
- The Perform Semantic Find script step was inconsistent when sorting the resulting found set by cosine similarity, if the step was performed in a hosted file.
- The Specify Import Order dialog failed to display source fields for mapping to target fields, if an ODBC source had been specified in an Import Records script step.
- An error message rather than a two-step verification page was displayed in a specific set of circumstances, namely:
- on a Windows computer;
- signing-in to FileMaker Pro;
- to access files hosted by FileMaker Cloud; and
- with an account authenticated via certain external identity providers.
- Importing records into FileMaker Pro on Windows, using the Sage Accounts 50 v29 ODBC driver, failed.
- FileMaker Pro stopped responding or quit in a specific set of circumstances, namely:
- on a Windows computer;
- selecting a button or button bar in Layout mode;
- opening the Button Setup or Button Bar Setup dialog;
- clicking a control that causes the Specify Calculation dialog to open; and
- in some cases, changing focus outside FileMaker Pro.
In addition, Claris states in the release notes that FileMaker Pro 2024 is not supported, and will soon no longer install, on macOS 12 Monterey.
FileMaker Server
Claris FileMaker Server 2024 was updated to version 21.0.2 in July 2024. A full installer – which you can use to upgrade or update an existing installation – is available from your Electronic Software Download page or via your Claris Customer Console. The full release notes can be found on the Claris website, but in summary, the update does the following:
- The pull-to-refresh option in the mobile browser is now disabled by default.
- General security improvements have been made.
The update also fixes the following bugs:
- FileMaker WebDirect slowed considerably after the upgrade to FileMaker Server version 21.0.1 (the first 2024 release).
- FileMaker WebDirect exhibited sporadic layout freezing, keyboard key repeats, and data loss caused by disappearing text.
- A reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) attack was made possible by login errors not being returned as HTML-encoded.
