Book Collection

We developed a custom app on the Claris/FileMaker Platform that catalogues books in a collection.

Please note that the screenshots contain mock data generated by Mockaroo; any similarity to actual people or organizations is entirely coincidental!

Book

  • View everything relating to a book, including the ISBN, author, translator, illustrator, format, type, genre, etc.
  • Select a book from the list in the left sidebar.
  • Find a specific book by typing a word, or part of a word, in the search field; the custom app will look in all fields for the search term.

Edit

  • Add or edit a book and the edit window appears.
  • If you add a book via its ISBN, the book details are retrieved via an API (application programming interface) from a public book database.
  • In most fields, select values from dropdown lists, checkboxes or radio buttons to make editing quick and easy.
  • Edits need to be saved or cancelled so you have complete control over the editing process.

  • As well as the reading-related events, choose from other events such as ‘Purchased’, ‘Received’, ‘Borrowed’ and ‘Loaned-out’.
