Legal Case Work
We developed a custom app on the Claris/FileMaker Platform that manages legal cases based around product liability, covering the life of a case from initiation through to settlement.
Please note that the screenshots contain mock data generated by Mockaroo; any similarity to actual people or organizations is entirely coincidental!
Large Dashboard
- View everything relating to a case in a single large dashboard that utilizes all of the screen of a large computer monitor.
- Select a specific case and drill down to an individual reference (or ‘sub-case’) and then to an individual defendant.
- Add a note of a phone call, meeting, or any other situation directly on the dashboard.
- Pin important notes to the top of the dashboard.
- See a list of chemical tests done, relevant computer files, pleadings and other documents, and case milestones.
- Get the contact details of relevant contacts for the defendant and other organizations.
Defendant Details
- View the details of a defendant in a window centered at the top of the screen, with the large case dashboard still visible in the background.
- See the name of the defendant and their type, and all of the contacts that are relevant to the defendant.
- Review all of the cases in which the defendant appears.
- Edit the defendant’s details directly within this window.
Contact Details
- View the different contact methods for a person – whether they’re a contact, a defendant, a lawyer, or an investigator – in a window centered at the top of the screen, with the large case dashboard still visible in the background.
- See name and job details, phone numbers, email addresses, Skype handles, and postal addresses.
- Go directly to other relevant areas of the app, for example to view the organization for whom the person works.
- Control which contact methods for a person appear on the case dashboard.
- Easily move a person to a different organization, when they change job.
Search
- Search within any of the information in the custom app.
- View a list of search results for every organizations, people, notes, test results, evidence, pleadings, and cases.
- Go directly to any item that is displayed. For example, in the screenshot, the user can go to any related defendant or case.
- Export the list that is showing to an Excel file.
Settlement Calculator
- Calculate the potential settlement amounts for a case.
- List the case(s) and the defendant(s).
- Enter sales figures for the defendant and then calculate the settlement amounts.
- Check the fields that were populated via rules defined by the user, and adjust any numbers if required.
- Send the resulting worksheet to Excel.
